Press Essentials for Country Artists: 5 Things You Need to Include on Your One-Sheet
A Brief Guide to Help You with Your Latest or Upcoming Release
Are you planning on releasing new music this Spring? It may be time to update your press kit and one-sheet (or create one if you don’t have one already). As someone who has previously designed and written one-sheets for country artists, here are five key essentials you need to include to set yourself up for success.
What is a One-Sheet?
First things first, what is a one-sheet? A one-sheet is an essential document that artists include in their press kits and use when booking opportunities. It’s a condensed PDF version of an artist’s electronic press kit (EPK) that includes key information about them, their music and their latest release.
1-Artist Bio
On your one sheet, you’ll want to include a short bio that introduces you and your music. In your bio, you’ll want to highlight your key achievements, experience and any notable collaborations.
2-Socials & Stats
You’ll also want to dedicate a section of your one-sheet to your socials. Social media is a great tool to help you market your music and build a loyal fanbase/community. Having a large, highly engaged online community can open doors to new opportunities such as sponsorships, booking bigger venues and being featured in notable media outlets. If you have a large online following, I’d suggest highlighting it on your one-sheet. If you don’t, you can leave those stats out and only include your social handles for the primary social media platforms. 3-Latest Release
If you just released or are planning on releasing a new single, EP or album, you should include it on your one-sheet. You’ll want to include a brief summary of your latest or upcoming release and its cover art. If the track, EP or album is already out, you can include a listening link. You can also include the music or lyric video for your latest release.
